The Greatest Game Ever Made

Well, we play a lot of games. Let’s just name a few of the really popular games ever made…well, there are several of them. For starters we have Metal Gear Solid, Tekken, Crash, Final Fantasy 7 and 10, Call of duty, GTA, Winning Eleven, Sonic, FIFA, Tomb Raider, Medal of Honor, Madden, World of Warcraft, Halo, Mortal Combat, God of War, the Sims, Need for Speed, DotA, POKEMON (wow I spent a lot of time on that shit). These are just some of the names of the more popular games that were successful enough to have a series. Other really good games were Shadow of the Colossus, Prince of Persia, Kingdom Hearts, Gears of War, Starcraft, Devil May Cry and Guitar Hero. Wow that’s a lot. Yet, amidst all these games, there hasn’t been a winner. Every video game in history ever made…franchise, solo, fun, storyline …battle.net…Everything has come down to 2 games…Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda- Ocarina of Time.

Yes, it is official these are the two greatest games of all time- no challenge there. Don’t even bother to argue how amazing the Metal Gear Sagas were or how the Cloud- Sephiroth battle was the greatest boss fight in video game history- NOTHING. I have scoured the internet and the internet has scoured people and all lists and polls and what not have come down to either Mario or Zelda. Being a gamer myself (although not a very good one), I realised that I have been playing games for what..11 years now and I still do not know what the greatest game of all time was. I mean I had a clue that it was Mario but never that Zelda. I know a lot of you who are older than me managed to play Ocarina of Time but I didn’t. I hear people talk about it whenever we look back at the games we used to play. I used to remember a lot- but sadly never Zelda.

Mario on the other hand- who the F*** does not know Mario. That dude the greatest. A lot of people never had a chance to play the Atari or Family computer- I myself jumped straight to PS1. STILL, I played Mario. The only regret that I have now is that I never got to play Zelda. Instead that bloody Pokémon shit on Gameboy got me hooked… ah but let’s leave the nostalgic topics for later.

A lot of us play a lot of games but just a few actually ever had that bulb light up in their brain in searching for the official greatest game ever. Why Mario? Well, F*** you- Mario was the Marlon Brando of gaming. Why Zelda? I cannot say myself because I am a stupid tard that played Pokémon instead of it but apparently that was the game that revolutionized 3-D. Let’s say this professor friend of mine had this Plutonium car that could go back in time, and I stole it and drove it back a decade ago, and accidentally ran over the creator of Ocarina- you would not have your Metal Gear, you GTA your Final Fantasy. That was the Game that made what gaming is today. For those of you that still don’t know what the undisputed top 2 games of all time were- now you know. For that #1 spot- let’s just say that both these games deserve it- the next greatest game would just end up at number 3.

So, class, we what have we learnt so far? Well, in almost all aspects of an MMORPG, Aion was F***ING awesome. Yet, we would have to say that it has failed to reach its ultimate goal- to dethrone WoW. Aion has made everything that it could have and should have made…I guess. You don’t even have to pay for mounts- how coo is that? And you can fly!! And you can customize your character to look like anybody!! Yet, Wow reigns supreme, and in my opinion, will continue to reign supreme. So what does Aion lack?

Well, let me just say that flying in Aion is awesome. Moreover, you can get all sorts of wings…

However, you only get to ride the wings for a limited time. And after that, you simply fall. I tried falling in level 2 and boy did I die. The thing in Aion is that you lose Xp when you die- you actually get it reduced. It came as a shock to me because in most games you usually lose gold, but never Xp. Another thing is that you simply can’t fly anywhere you please- there are certain area where you can release your wings. Fighting in Aion is significantly more difficult- not boring- difficult. It is pretty easy to kill or be killed in WoW but not so in Aion. Some people would accept this challenge with open arms. Even with the difficulty increase, the game is in no way less fun than WoW.

WoW is consists of 3 areas in Azeroth and Outland. Aion is basically made up of 2 worlds- Asmodea and Elysea with a the Abyss in between where you can go Rambo in. The battle of both worlds usually takes place in the middle. But one thing is clear- WoW universe is much bigger than the Aion one. What’s more, travel in Aion is pretty hard. Before you get your wings, everything’s in foot. And mind you- mounds don’t come till later. And a lot of time, there is just one way to point B from point A in a quest; unlike WoW where you can freestyle your travel- over bushes or rivers to get to where you want.

What about classes? Well, let’s face it, both games are unbalanced. There is no way a druid or warrior can go up against a death knight or a paladin or a mage that knows how to keep his range in WoW. Same thing goes for Aion- don’t f*** with a sorcerer or a priest- just don’t. WoW has a lot of classes while Aion doesn’t- let’s face it, Aion’s got only 2 races.

The ONE thing that may give Aion away is the support- shitty to say the least. NcSoft should really work into getting the support that blizzard offers instead of just making a game and then wiping their ass with it hoping it’s good enough to make a shitload of cash. A friend of mine got his account taken away- it was “deleted” because Blizzard thought he was selling gold when he was just giving it away to a friend. I thought he was done for but he did manage to get his account back-with a lot of compensation. Small things like this will decide the fate of player loyalty.

The final thing about WoW that makes it stand out so much- it’s been there. The story has been there for a long time and needless to say-the story’s f***ing awesome. The alliance assholes and the horde- their battles and the undead-the two legendary swords and everything- just gives WoW that competitive edge over any MMO that plans to take a stab at the market. WoW is just awesome- plain and simple. The only way in my opinion is to take something that already has a lot of fans and steal the market from WoW. I know there are a lot of Star Wars diehard geeks out there…

Aion is DEFINITELY worth the buy…

but it cannot and will not beat WoW…

Ah, the PS1, the greatest and the godfather of the gaming console. When the PS1 first went out, it was indeed a world of wonder. Instead of all games simply going up, down, left or right (although Mario was the shit, it’s really not that fun when everything’s in 2D)- you can actually now look around you! Although the greatest of the PS1 games did go on to PS2 and even PS3, there were those amazing games that just didn’t make it. Why? I do not know. By the way, if you never really played on a PS1- you missed out on a LOT dude- a whole LOT.

The biggest disappointment I would say is the fact the one of the greatest games ever made- FF7, is being CONSIDERED for a remake. Sure it’s better to keep the original as it is but COME ON- Cloud and Sephiroth in High Def?? The fighting and the original storyline- in High Def? Moreover, the original was more than a decade ago- people do feel nostalgic over time. Sure you can download it and play on an emulator…but High Def graphics- the game deserves more than “consideration”. Hope and pray that Square actually finalizes whether or not it’s gonna finalize the remake- we’re all in the dark here.

The second biggest waste had to be Crash Bandicoot. Now, if you have not played Twisted Metal, fine..you really missed out. But if you haven’t played Crash- ANY of the Crash games, then you’re a FAG. You don’t have to like it, you just have to had played it- although everyone loved it. I mean COME ON–look at him..

Now, this game series goes on #2 because well, it actually did make it to the PS2. Crash was one of the BIGGEST hits on PS1 and it was inevitable to have gone into PS2. But what happened in the PS2- THEY F***** it up. Naughty dog sold it to Vivendi, who really did a good job F***ING it up, and then focused on the Jax series. Even though you can download this on the PS3, there was no progress in the Crash series whatsoever. Humungous waste of these 4 awesome games.

Another classic favourite was the Duke Nukem series. 8 years. It took them 8 years to come up with a shitty Duke on the Xbox arcade- what kind of heresy is that? How can they just dump out Duke? I mean pig cops? Going to the future where there are no men and only women slaves? Awesome shooter game? EIGHT years? REALLY? Duke would be pissed…

Other really good games of old were the Army Men series- especially the air attack series. Yes, yes a bit cartoony and all, but that was the time when none of us hit puberty.

A more hardcore game was Metal Slug X- that game was pure fun. Ape Escape another hit which really revolutionized using the analog and well –was fun. It could be understood why this game didn’t make it, but it still could have. Time crisis and the sensor gun- why did it stop there? Rayman and Spyro really took a turn for the worst as it basically went into oblivion but it’s good to know that Spiro’s making a comeback for old times’ sake- the Gex series sadly did not make it. A few other games that well, died out were Kings Field and the most awesome brawler game ever- Fighting Force.

By the way, for those who loved Twisted Metal, there’s a new one coming on the PS3 next year. I would have included this game at the top of my list if they just let it die down. One of the best vehicular combat games all time- had it rough on the PS2; people barely knew about it, but thankfully making a comeback on the PS3. Hope we haven’t grown too old for a good ol’ car rampage..

Part II

Aite, let’s see where we left off. So far HoN takes the lead with its amazing graphics. Yea that’s pretty much it. Not much for words eh? Now let’s have a look at gameplay; both in game and general opinions.

Back then, when there was only DotA, whenever me and my friends played with these Arab kids, we always used to get analed; and not just with normal sized objects, I’m talking massive throbbing black manhood. See, against my own group of friends I used to own- they just sucked balls, but I was still really crap when I played any proper match against any proper people. DotA was just something that took a decent amount of time to practice- it wasn’t really for noobs or semi-noobs. HoN pretty much took the same stance- it is still the exact gameplay DotA was- because this was what it wanted to be. LoL on the other hand was more kind to noobs that didn’t get to join in group DotA fights because they were not good enough. LoL is not too easy, it is just a lot easier than DotA. You won’t have to spend at least a couple of years, that is if you are playing from scratch, to be able to do anything useful. It would take you probably a couple of months and a few dozen games meaning that all those people with fingers as slow as f***; timing as good as f*** and coordination as bad as f*** can play.

DotA wasn’t very kind to noobs. Some of the main aspects of this was the whole denying concept- which took me forever to get a hang of, even in DotA. Denying leaves your opponent penniless and short on a level or two. One would need a great deal of experience to have that natural timing, intuition and feel come to him; more so if you would be up against greats. Another thing was losing gold when you die. This means that you just can’t afford to keep on dying but would have to manage yourself pretty well. LoL on the other hand is more forgiving. It doesn’t have either of these in game. Hey, now isn’t that too easy? Well, the denying thing was just a bit too hard in the first place and the gold, well, it leaves out one aspect of DotA and HoN gameplay that just really pisses me off- the whole hit and run, hit and run thing. I mean WTF man, come and fight me like a man you faggoty SOB!! With LoL, EVERYONE gets to have balls the size of the South Park men (you know in the one where they put their balls in the microwave just to get testicular cancer so that they can smoke medicinal marijuana). With LoL, there is a lot of action involved. It’s always “BRING IT ON BITCH!” or “I will wipe the floor with your FACE, BiTcH!” Well, once they realised that they are actually losing the fight, THEN they simply run like faggots, but almost never run back. Those that do almost always trip over their own ass. The tanks in LoL simply run in like crazy f***s because they just don’t give a shit. It’s for the team and they’re not losing cash anyways. This whole concept actually makes the game a lot more fun instead of serious. Instead of always having to watch your own ass, you can just pull your pants down, expose your genitalia, and run like a Scotsman on coke right into your opponents. Oh yea and don’t forget the war paint.

League of Legends vs Heroes of Newerth(LoL vs HoN) – the fight for the throne

Part I

Ahhhh, the ever never-ending question- LoL or HoN, which one shall eventually take Dota’s throne? I would first like to go on and say that Dota was, is and forever will be the father of death match RPGs, even long after its player base drops drastically. HoN and LoL are basically the same game but in two completely different worlds; kinda like having a boxer and an artist twin- kinda. Well anyways this is gonna be an unbiased, hopefully many of you will agree, series of articles (most probably till part III) which will try to settle or unsettle the question once and for all. This site is pretty much HoN based so it’s time for a little introduction to LoL. Another little title biter, LoL is currently leading the way- CURRENTLY. Believe it or not HoN fans, but it’s true. This DOES NOT mean that it’s better than HoN, but has more players patronizing the game more.

Aite so just what’s the difference? Well, over the course of the week, I’ll be describing the most important aspects of the games that appeal to gamers. I’m not gonna go into unnecessary crap, just what people would want to see and play in a game- with a bit of other perks that people would prefer a game to have.  First up would be the graphics. Needless to say, graphics have to kick ass.

Let’s see how this goes. The people at S2 made sure that HoN looked good- real good.

I think Caruso says it all. Anyways…yea…Real, real good. One would see that amount of effort and detail it took to make graphics that improved upon Dota- this good. Now what about LoL?

Point being, HoN is way more advanced in graphics than LoL. Still doesn’t mean LoL graphics are bad, they still are an improvement from Dota, but COME ON… there is no challenge there.

But HoN is too dark and …well, emo…

WHAT?!?!    But it’s true, some people DO say this….LoL on the other hand is more bright and happy…

But bright and happy is called GAY…..some people do say this as well….

What I’m trying to say is that those are just aspects of the graphics….one is darker, sexier and the other is kiddish and well…40 year old virgin wearing nothing but huge nipples the size of my shoulder and some blue kilt kinda like….I am not judging people by what kinda graphics they like; all I’m saying is that when it comes to graphics, it is HoN- hands down. Even though most LoL players have no graphics complaints, it still cannot compare to HoN in any way.  And for any gamer, when a game has outstanding graphics, it is a sign that you do not F*** with it.
